Web Design Schools in District of Columbia

Search: Web Design Schools

Web design schools in the District of Columbia area offer students the opportunity to take part in one of the fastest-growing fields currently on the market. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, no other industry is as poised for growth as web design, which gives new graduates access to better employment opportunities, higher pay, and increased job security.

Web Development

Most DC web design schools offer flexible training in everything from graphic design to web development. Students can choose to rely heavily on the creative side of things, learning Photoshop and web animation, or on the more technical aspect of web design, working with HTML codes and search engine optimization techniques. No matter where on the spectrum you end up, however, the end result is much the same: graduates will have the skills necessary to work in design firms, as part of the IT departments of major corporations, and as business owners themselves.

There are no degree requirements for becoming a web designer in Washington DC, but many employers prefer graduates with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or other certifications in individual design elements such as CSS or Adobe. Depending on where you go to web design school in the District of Columbia, your training can take anywhere from a few months up to four years for a traditional university education.

No other field offers as much hands-on training as web design. Because you will be working almost entirely on the computer and at your own pace, many courses are offered online or during flexible weekend and evening hours.

Living and working in the DC area is appealing to many web design students because of the local opportunities. As a bustling metropolitan center, many graduates move on to work in the area or for employers they met during the educational process (oftentimes through internships), although government web design jobs may require higher education at the Bachelor and Master levels.
