If you have a passion for technology and computers and like to play video games, a career as a video game designer may be perfect for you. Game designers create games. Video game designers use technology to create the concept and the play of computer games. As video games increase in popularity, so do opportunities for careers in game design, as well as the competition for jobs.

Video game designers need both artistic ability and technical know-how. Designers create the characters, plot, levels, and scoring, then use their coding and programming skills to make it all come alive. They may also test the games to make sure they play as they are supposed to.
