Becoming a veterinary technician is a very good career option for those who love animals. Most veterinary technicians love interaction with animals. Veterinarian technicians need to understand an animal’s emotions and help them in their discomfort, remedy ailments, and make the frightened animals comfortable in the veterinary office. This is a very challenging and emotionally demanding job, as you have to interpret what the animals want to say.

To perform routine laboratory and clinical tasks, veterinary technicians work under the guidance of veterinarians. They are required to perform medical tests, take blood samples, assist with dental work, and analyze test results. Their duties can differ with location and training. To work in some private veterinary offices, you have to have specialized training, such as working with horses, large breeds, and small companion animals. Sometimes, this work can be dangerous and unpleasant.

The most popular training program for veterinary technicians is the associate degree program. This is a two-year course that covers veterinary technology, animal anatomy and physiology, veterinary office management, and animal parasitology. Some of the courses use actual live animals in a clinical setting.
