Travel agents can work in different places. They can also open their own travel agency or work for some other travel agency. If you want to become a good travel agent, then you can pursue vocational training to increase your knowledge and increase efficiency in formulating tour packages.

If you are not satisfied or don’t want to follow vocational training, then you can attend a college and or a university that provides courses for prospective travel agents. You will learn a lot this way about the travel industry.

The economic downturn, global recession, and increased use of online travel booking have affected travel agency professionals. Some may work 45 hours a week during off-season and around 50 hours a week during the peak season, with salaries averaging around $35,000 to $40,000 per year. Top agents make more than $50,000 a year.
