The Surgical Technologist Program at High Tech Institute includes an eight-week externship at a hospital, surgical center, or private physician’s office helping surgeons during surgery in the operating room. During the externship you will practice the skills you learned during the classroom portion of the program.
Upon graduation you will be qualified to sit for the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) TECH in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) Certification Examination. After you pass the exam, you will qualify for jobs in hospital operating rooms, surgical centers, delivery rooms, dental offices, and clinics.
As a surgical technologist, your job prospects will be very good, especially if you are NCCT-certified. Annual salaries for surgical technologists range from $24,000 to $46,000.
