Request free information from any of the pharmacy technician programs below. Get on the road to becoming a pharmacy assistant quickly and easily and start earning what you're worth in this rewarding career field.

Pharmacy technicians need to be completely familiar with medicines and how they work in order to be successful at their job. Specific training is necessary, and many schools offer certified courses for this career. Once you pass the required examinations, you will be able to get your license and start practicing. You could also enroll in online courses offered by such schools as Anthem College, Penn Foster Career School, and the University of Florida.

Before becoming a practicing pharmacy technician, you must pass the National Pharmacy Technician Exam and obtain the mandatory National Pharmacy Technician Certificate. A high school diploma is also a minimum requirement. The examination is held throughout the year in different parts of the country, and you should be able to locate a suitable place and a convenient time to take it. Finding subsequent employment is easy, as people trained in this area are always in demand.

Once you have the certificate, you need to renew it every two years. To be approved, you have to work a minimum of 20 hours in the pharmaceutical field.. If you do not meet this requirement, it is unlikely that you will be able to renew your certificate. The training you receive to be a pharmacy technician is intensive but necessary to best prepare yourself for working in this field.
