Learn to be a Pharmacy Technician at High Tech College
If you would like to become a pharmacy technician, you can choose from ten campuses at High Tech College.
As a licensed pharmacy assistant, you will help prepare prescription medications. This includes retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, and measuring the prescribed medications. You may also maintain patient profiles, prepare insurance forms, work with customers, and stock and inventory medications. If you work as a pharmacy technician in a hospital, you may read patients’ charts and prepare and deliver medication to patients.
At High Tech Institute, you will study:
Anatomy and physiology
Prescription and non-prescription drugs, herbal remedies, and dietary supplements
How to interpret physicians’ orders, maintain records, full unit dose carts, and stock floor inventory
How to process drug orders, calculate dosing, and stock medications
Federal and state pharmacy laws
The Pharmacy Assistant Program at High Tech Institute includes a four-week externship at a clinic site under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. During the externship you will practice the skills you learned during the classroom portion of the program.
After you graduate from this program you will be qualified to work in a variety of settings, including retail pharmacies, clinics, medical centers, outpatient clinics, and hospitals.
