The nursing schools in Utah offer curriculum that will help you better understand patient relationships and health care. You might take courses on drug therapy, clinical skills, maternity nursing, adult care, and health policy. If you plan to become an RN, expect to spend two years or less for an Associate degree, and four if you want to get your Bachelor degree. Many schools also offer continuing education, so if you are already a nurse and are looking for extra certification, Utah is the place to get it.
Salaries for nurses in Utah are competitive. LPNs can make an average of $35,000 annually, and RNs can earn between $45,000 and $60,000. For the most part, where you work and what field you work in will determine what you earn.
With 80 percent of Utah’s population living in or around Salt Lake City, many of the Utah nursing schools are located in the north central part of the state. The land is dry and desert-like, with extreme temperatures in both the summer and winter. Salt Lake City is the capital, and was founded by Mormon pioneers. In between nursing classes, you can visit fine arts museums, a planetarium, or history museums. If music is more your thing, be sure to explore both the city’s performing arts venues as well as rock and roll, blues, and jazz performances.
