When it comes to interior design, many people assume that it is just about the design side of things. However, you will be responsible for turning the concept given you by a client into a fully-decorated space, figuring out where to find the materials needed, hiring and scheduling contractors to do the actual work, and coordinating everyone so it all gets finished right on time and within the client’s budget.
All of the above skills are taught during your two to four years of required schooling. Once you have the basic concepts of space and design down, you will also learn more advanced business skills. After graduation, it’s time to put that knowledge to use as you work as an intern for another two to four years before taking the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam to get your design license. Although the license isn't a requirement to work in the field, it enables you earn a higher income of up to $75 per hour as a professional interior designer.
There are few better places to start your career than one of the various interior design schools in Minnesota, where you can live and study in the natural beauty of this amazing state.
