While most people are originally drawn to design because of artistic interests, there are plenty of other skills that you will need to learn, including reading blueprints, designing rooms on digital media, and scheduling contractors to get everything done on schedule, as well as a number of business-related skills. All of this is taught at the best Colorado interior design schools, where you can study for two to four years, depending on which school you attend and what program you opt for. Most two-year programs offer either a certificate or Associate degree, while a four-year program typically results in a Bachelor's degree.
Once your studies have been completed, you will be able to work as an intern or join a design company to get work experience. This is necessary if you wish to pass the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam, which is required in order to get licensed as an interior designer. This prestigious certification means you can command rates of up to $75 an hour while doing what you love.
There are a number of interior design schools within Colorado, so you have your pick of where you want to study, whether in a large city center like Denver or Boulder, or somewhere smaller like Pikes Peak – all of which have opportunities and amenities to tempt every potential student.
