High Paying Careers in Science
For years we’ve been hearing about how children need to be better educated in science. This is very true for a variety of reasons. But one of the biggest reasons why a kid would want to study hard in the field of science is because of the high paying careers in science. Here are just a few of the careers a young person could pursue.
Medical Field
The medical field is booming right now and will be for decades (if not forever). More people are being born, more people are growing old, and people of all ages need care. But as the demand for medical care rises, the supply of medical care personnel is going down. Therefore, there is a high need for more people to go into these fields.
Doctors, physician assistants, x-ray technicians, lab technicians, and nurses are just a few of the possible careers within the medical industry. The education level needed varies for each of these jobs but the pay ranges from decent to great. Of course the satisfaction of caring for people is a great reason to go into this field as well.
Geosciences
While some careers in the science field have leveled off a bit, geosciences continues to grow at a good clip. Geosciences include environmental consulting, mining, and petroleum. Science jobs within these industries pay very well and are in high demand right now.
Many of these careers can be very rewarding in other ways besides salary too. Many of these careers involve doing what’s right for the environment while also finding ways to do things that will help people.
Dentistry
Dentistry is another field that is growing and will continue to grow as long as the population grows and more people continue to be concerned about healthy teeth and gums. Becoming a dentist is a great career but becoming a dental hygienist is a great way to go too. The pay is excellent and it only takes two years of education.
Computer Science
Computers are growing and growing. While the growth may slow down at times, it’s still growing at a torrid pace. There is hardly a business that can do without computers. And, of course, there needs to be people who know how to build and operate these computers. That’s where computer science comes in.
While this may be a career that requires stronger math skills than science skills, it’s still a science career, and it’s one that pays very well and is in high demand. There are two year degree programs, four year degree programs, and Master’s level programs. Usually the rate of pay is directly commensurate with the level of education. So the more education a person has the more money that person will make.
Careers in the medical field, geosciences, dentistry, and computer science are just four examples of high paying careers in science. These are all fields that are growing and will continue to grow for at least the foreseeable future. While the amount of education varies from field to field and from career to career, all of these require a strong science background and they all pay very well.
