Although considered a large part of tornado alley, Kansas is more than a flat landscape with tornadoes. It is distinctively rural and full of interesting cities and unique attractions, such as Dodge City, the epitome of wild-west towns. Here, residents and visitors experience this era in history by visiting its many museums and taking a ride through town on the Historic Trolley Tour.
The state also has nine scenic byways, with Glacial Hills Scenic Byway going through Atchinson, the birthplace of Amelia Earhart. The Frontier Military Scenic Byway traverses old military trails that were used during the Civil War. The capital city of Topeka hosts multitudes of museums, shopping areas and a zoo. Many wineries are located throughout the state, such as Oz Winery in Warnego and Dozier Vineyard & Winery in Ellinwood.
