The overall demand for animators is increasing, and with it the salaries top companies are willing to pay. The popularity of animated films, television shows, and advertisements has increased the need for talented animators.
As with most professions, salaries depend on several factors:
- Company size;
- Company location;
- Your experience, skills, education, and training; and
- Your specific animation field.
The video game design industry is one of the fastest growing job markets. According to Animation Arena, video game animators with six years of experience can expect to earn about $75,000 a year. PayScale reports salaries of $34,000 to start and $55,000 with five to nine years of experience.
Animators are expected to have more employment opportunities than other artists over next few years. But competition is stiff and work may be difficult to find without experience and formal training.
